I have a 2005 Emachines computer with Microsoft Windows Media Center and it takes about five to ten minutes to startup. Once it has completed its startup theres about 25 programs under owner in the Processes section in the Task Manager. And I have found that my computer works better and faster when I remove almost all of these. I close all the programs but explorer.exe, CCAPP.EXE, and SymSCUI.exe. The question I would like to ask is, is it safe to remove these Programs from Startup or even close them with the Task Manager? Some of the programs I close include Spysweeper.exe, BigFix.exe, mcagent.exe, and other programs which might be antiviruses or useful to my computer. I would really appreciate any help. And in advance I would like to say thank you.

The processes which are important for your System they can not be closed. You can't kill them from Task Manager. But you shouldn't follow this way. You should clear your startup from a different Method. Follow the Steps below:
1. Click Start button.
2. Choose Run
3. In the Run Text box give the command msconfig
4. Microsoft System Configuration Utility will be opened.
5. From the Startup Tab uncheck the Items which are not needed. Leave a Antivirus running. That is necessary to keep your computer Safe.
6. Click Apply.
7. It will ask for a restart.
8. After getting restarted you will notice the unchecked programs from the startup tab have not started on windows Startup.
You have to be Administrator or Member of Administrator Group to run msconfig Utility.
