Microsoft Word for Mac?

Is there even a difference between the Mac versions of the Microsoft word. Between professional and student? And I checked CompUSA's website, and it used to cost about $100, now it's about $220. And also, my Mac had a free version of it (which I used), and it keeps offering for me to buy it online. Is that a good investment? Because what if my computer crashes do I have to spend another $100 to redownload it, since it's not on a physical disc, it's off the internet?

I bought mine when I bought my new imac but it was $149 and it comes with entourage, powerpoint, Word , Excel, MSN messenger. I believe it was a good investment in my case. I got the Student and teacher edition because I didn't need no more than just powerpoint, excel and word. the proffesional and the student %26 teacher difference is that the pro has allot more stuff that is pretty much going to be useless if you are going to be using word the most. Pretty much like the vista stuff just cause you get the more expensive version don't mean you are going to use it all. Think about what your needs are and if it's even necessary to get the pro version. Oh and by the way I would suggest purchasing a phsycal copy not just a download. Because it kinda gives you peace of mind if you ever need to reinstall. Bestbuy sells it for mac and I'm sure compusa must also if not just go to apples website. Oh and by the way when you buy the software in the box it has the rights to install in up to 3 computers in your household.

I would assume it is a programmer's error. A mistake was probably made and the error checking in the program or the runtime library shut it down.

(The runtime library is a collection of things to help a designer write a program)

This could be a corrupt version of the file you downloaded, or maybe a corrupted or old version of the runtime library. You could try to download and replace "msvcrt.dll" or reinstall the game, or there might be something else wrong with the computer that's keeping the game from playing. Have you played the game before?

I am English and my girlfriend is Swedish. I have installed windows XP onto my PC in English but my girlfriend needs to use microsoft word in Swedish. I installed the Swedish version of word for her but we are unable to write certain Swedish letters for example an A with two dots on top, an O with two dots on top and an A with a small circle above it. We have a Swedish keybord but these letters dont work with word or anything else for that matter. Im guesing that its a problem with my keybord instalation but I cant work out how to fix it. Well I have been thinking about the same thing and I would have to say that I am leaning towards the Microsoft Zune. The iPod is great and I loved it when I had one. Now for once Microsoft has thought outside the box and pulled a fast one on Apple in features.

The biggest feature that will be noticeable is the screen. The screen is a vertical rectangle, however when you place the Zune horizontally it acts as a widescreen for your movies, which is so cool! Not like the iPod, which still has the same square screen.

The Zune is going to have wireless capabilities, unlike the iPod. For one in the Zune you can actually trade songs between Zune players. No more sharing ear phones with you friends, now you can just send them the song to their Zune. However, don't expect to use this feature too much, because you have to think that many people won't have the Zune at first and this feature only works between Zune players, so i would recommend getting your friends to buy one also to try this feature. I read that the Zune will be able to sync wirless to the computer, although I don't how that exactly work, but the thought of transferring your songs from your computer to your MP3 is exciting, no more cables like the iPod!

If you have an Xbox 360, I know there is a feature between the Xbox 360 and the Zune, but I can't recall it specifically, especially because I don't own a Xbox 360.

On the Word toolbar click "tool", and you should have a submenu of spelling and grammar options. I have Word 2002 and it has it.
Go to Tools and than Spelling and Grammar.
Go to the toolbar with words on it. Click on 'tools' and you should get a drop down menu that has 'spelling' or 'spelling and grammar' and click on that. Your computer can't have a 'spell checker' but the Word program has one ... look in 'tools' and you should find it.

The closest I can see in the options is Mon Jan 28, '07. That's pretty close. The options you're boss mentioned would take up a lot of space on the page - probably why they're not a popular option to include.

There is no easy way to get around this. I would present the options to your boss and let him/her which one they like best.

Help with installing Microsoft Office 2003?

I was having a problem w/ Microsoft Excel on my computer and the only way it seemed to work for fixing was to uninstall and reinstall Office 2003. So I did that, and now whenever I try to open anything and authroize it, it tells me I have activated up to the limit for my Product Key, and that I have "x" number amount of times left to do it. I called Microsoft though it wasn't very helpful.

Since this happens after you hit the enter key, line spacing is only part of the equation. Instead, in the same dialog box, check the amount of After space you have for the paragraph style. It should be a small number, 0 usually, 6 also common.

I assume that you are using Microsoft Word from Office 2003 or earlier.

Right click on the top region until you find a spot that drops down the toolbars to choose from, and turn on Standard and Advanced.

If you have also lost the Top Menu line, which is the Names of the drop down Menus (File, Edit, Help, etc) you should find it is there as well.

Worse, you may have hidden toolbars at the end of each other. If you can see five or six vertical dots at the far left, or immediately to the right of a toolbar end, then Toolbars are unlocked and you can drag them around the screen to expose the full width of the toolbar. Trial and error.

One other possibility is that you have forced Word into Full Screen view. I have only seen that a couple of times, and do not remember how to turn it on or off. And I now use Office 2007, so can't really test it to find the key strokes, as the new version, which its "magic" ribbon tends to navigate quite differently.

My Microsoft Word 2000 started giving me problems. When I am typing a document and want to go to a second page it won't go further then pp one. I have tried doing a page break and putting it on continuous text but have to do a cut and page. I also cannot put my document on double spacing. After the lst page it just disappears. Ive been looking at web page software, but ive got an ftp program for posting, so whats best for putting the page together, are the built in microsoft programs like word, etc any good. I Have office but never done more than print out a letter with word.

Generally web page creation tools write really bad code, overly complicated and messy.

If you are serious about learing i would start with a decent HTML book (which covers CSS %26 simple scripting) and notepad \ wordpad.

HTML-Kit is very useful %26 free

If you just want to put together a quick site Dreamweaver is good

If possible avoid all Microsoft web page software, Word, Powerpoint etc etc

In my opinion writing pure HTML in a text editor is the way to go, you build a better understanding of HTML and you can do more, you don't have to rely on certain templates etc, although it is a lot harder than just firing up word.

You can work with FrontPage, but I definitely recommend Macromedia Dreamweaver. I'm a web designer and I think it's the best. Of course, Dreamweaver or Frontpage will let you put the page together but you'll have to create your graphics on Fireworks, Photoshop, or some graphics software or download images and other resources from the web!

Normally, if a MS program fails to validate you can not get updates.

Whenever you enter text on your computer, if you select some text and then type, it instantly DELETES the selected text and REPLACES it with yours.

This should also happen in Microsoft Word. However, it has just stopped. Instead, it now puts the new text I am writing at the beginning of the selected text, without any deletion.

This is NOT the Insert key on my keyboard, or the OVR button at the bottom of Word - these replace text (whether selected or not) one character at a time.

Sounds as if a DLL has been deleted or something else has gone whacky. Usually these things correct themselve upon restarting the system, but if not just uninstall and reinstall MS Word and the problem should be resolved.

i just got a new computer and it had the Microsoft Word program on a seperate cd. I installed the program and the Product key that is on the back of the cd seems to not be right. After typing it over and over again i still get the same problem. Anyone else have this problem?

What I have done in the past is to find a border I like in a graphics program I like. I paste that into Word text box so I can manipulate it. Then I create a text box and put my wording in that. If the text box falls behind the border, you need to change the order of the text boxes. You do this by opening the drawing tool bar, selecting the text box and send it to the back

This usually happens when you are opening a file that is not a Word file, or one of the files that Word has a converter for.

You simply choose the best looking output sample on screen and then let Word do the conversion. It usually does not do a good job since the file type is so much different than what Word can handle.

But as a last resort it is often the only way to retrieve a really old or odd file.

I am trying to make a function on Microsoft Excel that has a double criteria. A1 has to be bigger than A2, and B2 has to be bigger then A1. If it passes both of those criteria then I need it to have the words C1 has. If it doesn't, I need it to say the words that C2 has. Here is what it looks like.

The previous answer should have worked, based on the second explanation of what you are looking for. The only reason that I can think of that it would not be working for you would be because of rounding issues, which would make it look like the two values are equal when in reality, they are not. If this is the case, and you want to compare the rounded values, you can use the ROUND function in your formula - replace each cell reference in the previous answer with "ROUND(cell, n)" where "cell" is the cell reference and "n" is the number of decimal places to round to.

Here's a way to save the font to Normal.dot that won't affect anything else you've done to Normal.dot. (This assumes Word XP (2002) or an adjacent version. Word Vista (2007) probably has something similar.)

1.Click in the paragraph.

2.Click on the Format-%26gt;Styles and Formatting menu item.

3.In the bottom part of the sidebar that pops up, the style for your paragraph should have a bold box around it.

4.Hover the cursor over the style. A listbox arrow should appear. Click it.

5.Select Modify from the list box.

6.Click the Format button and select Font.

7.Perform the adjustments you want .

8.OK out of everything.

All paragraphs in the document with that style should adjust themselves.

Now, to carry this one step further and fix the style on the template your document is based on (probably Normal.dot, but not necessarily), do this:

2.In the left-hand list box, find and click on the style you changed.

3.Click the Copy button between the two list boxes.

4.Click OK.

When you close your document, you may see a warning message asking if you want to save the changes to Normal.dot. This is an anti-virus measure, intended to alert you that something has changed in Normal.dot. In this case, you made the change, so you want to accept it.

That should do it.

Try running a virus cleaner or insert your original Vista disc. Click the repair option on your disc. Vista files sometimes get corrupt and cause things like this. If either of these aren't the problem, you're having an internal hardware problem with your computer and you should get it checked out. If you know alot about computers you can probably fix it but if you don't you can take it to your local computer repair shop and they should figure it out.

At the last line of text that you wish to keep on a certain page you may enter a page-break. The shortcut key for this is ctrl+enter. No matter where you are on a page the cursor will jump down to a new page.

When you finished typing what you want underlined take you mouse to the start of the info, hold it down and move the mouse across what you want to underline. It will turn dark because you're highlighting it. Above on the toolbar there are commands. Do you see B, (bold), i (italic), etc. to the right of that is the u command. Just click on it and it will take that action to what you have highlighted. If you make a mistake, just click edit, and on the drop-down menu click undo. I hope this helps!

Instead of typing like that, just before you type use CTRL+U.

After you're done press CTRL+U. If you use underscore as a blank, it will be treated as a character and so will go off when you type something on it.

Also you can draw a line using graphics and put it as a blank. You can adjust the thickness of the line to make it look as a blank.

If you click on the 'forgot password' when trying to sign in there is a way to reset your password. You can either:

- Use a secret question, you would have answered when creating your Windows Live ID

- Or use a backup email adress

Also, are you sure your caps-lock isn't on or a silly brother or sister hasn't changed it?

You don't even have to open Word to change the language. :)

Not sure if there is too much you can do--- it sounds like you purchased a Spanish version! The best I can think for you to try is this...

1. Open Word 2007

2. Click on the ROUND button in the upper left, with the Windows logo on it.

3. At the bottom right of the window that opens are two rectangle buttons. Click on the LEFT-- in my English version this is 'Word options'.

4. In the window that opens, there is a rectangular button. CLICK IT. This should take you into a screen in which you can select the languages. Select English wherever possible, in all areas, and if you can and want to, remove the Spanish setting (TOP button is ADD, LOWER button is REMOVE). Hope this helps and/ or fixes the problem. If you need more help, you may IM or e-mail me... (I have a sneaking suspicion of how ya ended up with a Spanish copy, and I may be able to help ya further).

I am aware that it is possible to activate the Pen Tools on a non-tablet system such as a desktop or a basic laptop. Which also means drawing on Word documents with the simple Mouse.

As the first poster stated the product key is on the case. If you threw out the case you threw out the product key.

Also for future reference you are only allowed to reactivate Office that you have purchased a total of three times. This also goes for the operating system.

How I know this? Because it happened to me. When I went to reactivate both products it stated that I have activated too many times and need to purchase a new product key.

Public Folders (which is how you share files in Exchange) are being phased out by Microsoft, and they have always been a secondary choice for sharing documents.

SharePoint is designed for knowledge collaboration - in other words sharing documents, wiki pages, shared calendars and contacts. It uses only a web-based interface, and isn't designed to synchronize with a desktop like Outlook is. Of course, as I said before, SharePoint is not an email system at all, so if you are looking for an email platform, SharePoint alone just isn't an option.

So each has some great strengths and weaknesses. Most larger organizations use both!

Microsoft Outlook Blocking messages?

Our microsoft outlook program has always worked fine up until just over a week ago. It receives everything it's meant to from everyone but one person. This person sends us an attachment and it doesn't come through. We get the email but no attachment. I've already tried going through Tools-Options etc etc. It's becoming really frustrating so any help would be really appreciated. I've also already spoken to my ISP and they said there was nothing they could see that would be causing the issue. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, without the installation CD you won't be able to do this ... unless you make a ghost image of your hard drive and install that on your laptop instead.

If you are using a trial version and you have used your allotted trys, you will get locked. Many new computers have trials and not the complete program loaded when you purchase them. Mine did. There was an icon on the windows window for student office 2007 and if yours is a trial it will tell you that and you can either pay for the software on a link there, so purchase another copy from the store and load it and register it.

If your computer has a full paid version on it, call microsoft office help or they have a website to help you get it going again.

Ok, whenever I try to put my picture on Microsoft Word, (It's on a Windows Vista by the way) they skip around whenever I try to move them in a certain area. For example, i download a picture onto a blank page and i try to put it in the corner, then, when i release to place it there, the picture jumps over into another area.

I know this may sound confusing and all, but I'm trying to make a picture collage for my friend and i can't make one if all of my pictures wont stay in the right place. =[

It sounds like you might have the picture's layout to "in line with text". Try right clicking the picture and going to properties. Then change the layout to "square" and moving it. It should stay in place. You might also have to uncheck "move with text" [or something similar to that].

You can save it as a Word 2003 document by going to the Office Button in the upper left hand corner, click SAVE AS then choose "Word97-2003 doc". Also, check the printer settings in 2007. Perhaps there is a default that needs to be changed. You can check this by going to the same Office Button but this time choose PRINT. Select your printer and review the settings there.

That is the correct folder. What you need to do is go to File%26gt;Import/Export in Outlook. Then import the file from the saved folder.

When you reinstalled Windows and then Office it does not point to your old file, it looks at a new file.

I created a form by using Microsoft access

I put a combo box named as combo1 and manually entered the Value List as "T1";"T2";"T3鈥?.

I put a text box named txt1 under of it and simply I want this textbox write 1 if T1 selected and 2 if T2 or T3 selected.

What I wrote as a formula as =IIf([combo1]="T1",1,2) .but at the end I am getting an error #Name? in my textbox.

I hope someone can help me.

Create a new form. Add a combo box using the wizard and have it select the values from the table that you just saved.

Add both fields from the table to the list of available fields.

On the second last screen, select the Num Field as the one to return or store the value for later use.

After that create a text box, enter it's properties and goto the DATA page and set it's control source to be the combo box.

That is it. If you select from the combobox the text box uses the nuber returned field.

As Microsoft Works is the product you are having difficulty with, wouldn't it be more useful for you to discuss this problem with Microsoft by accesssing their website on the computer you are currently connecting to the internet? If you can identify the product, they may be able to E-mail you the key??
The activation key should been supplied with the laptop. It may even be on the bottom of the laptop next to the windows activation key. If you can't find it, speak to the supermarket you bought it from.
Most stuff like that is a limited trial program. You have to buy it to get an activation key!

In the old days programs could be bought by one person and it could end up on 500 computers. Microsoft put a stop to that when XP first came out and made it one copy, one machine to stop the piracy!

That's why everything has to be validated now that is a genuine copy and not a pirate one.

Since the operating system is written by Microsoft they include MSN which is really a web site. By adding Yahoo Messenger you can add Yahoo to the list.
