It runs on a laptop. The GPS connects to the USB port of the laptop and the USB port powers the GPS unit. All you need is a laptop or a hand held PC that has a usb port. Makw sure you have an inverter to power your PC when the battery dies as the GPS sucks power like you wouldn't imagine.
