Microsoft word, isnt working, report due!?

My microsoft word program isnt working, it keeps popping up. taking about three to five mins. to load and then it flickers in and out of a white screen.... then i get a popup saying there was an error, and it gives me a option to send an error report, or not to send it.....

notepad and wordpad are the only other programs that came with my computer... and neither of them can do any of the things that MW can do , and i need almost all of its functions for this one project that i have to turn in by next week, what do you suggest i do? is there a way to fix MW? can you reccomend another (free?) program that i can download and use?

I suggest you scan your system for virues and spyware. Next, uninstall Word --but not until you have found the install CD and product key and reinstall it. If the product is stolen, pirated or illegal it can behave like this. It can also do this if it's expired. Some systems come with a 90-day (or less) "timebombed" version of Office (that includes Word) that stop working after a period of time.

It helps quite often.
Try OpenOffice. It's a free office suite from Sun Microsystems, and contains the same office products as Microsoft office. Even better, if you have started your project in Word, Open Office will open it and you can go from there. Figure out your problem with Word later.
